The Lakes Region TEA Party is pleased to announce the speakers at its October 19, 2016 meeting: Norman Silber, who will talk about the US Supreme Court, and Marc Abear, who will report about the recent Convention of States simulation.
Attorney Norman Silber, a member of The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, will describe the dynamics of the court, the nomination and confirmation process, the shifting balance of the court, and how the results of the Presidential election will affect Americans for decades. Copies of the US Constitution will be available.
The authors of the US Constitution knew that Congress would never propose Amendments to the Constitution to fix Congress’s own abuses. Thus, they provided authority for the States to hold a Convention for the purpose of proposing Amendments to the Constitution. Marc Abear will report on the lessons from the recent simulated Convention of States meeting. Marc Abear is a fighter for Constitutional government and a candidate for State Representative from Meredith and Gilford.
Time permitting there will be a brief discussion of gun control efforts, please bring any information you have about gun control efforts around the country.
The Lakes Region TEA Party meeting will be held at 7 PM at the Moultonborough Library, 4 Holland Street, Moultonborough, NH. The public is invited to attend to listen, learn, and participate in our discussions.
